By a vote of its membership at the March 8, 2003 general meeting, the MHSHCA established this award to recognize a Michigan high school hockey player who has over come a significant happening in his/her life and through their courage, determination and desire not to quit, have made the most of their situation. This award is presented annually to one player, inclusive of all divisions, who exhibits the following qualities:
- Courage
- Determination
- Over come adversity
- Perseverance
- Dedication to H.S. hockey
- Positive example to others
- Minimum 2.0 GPA
AWARD:
The recipient will receive a wall plaque and a $500 scholarship, which will serve to encourage their continued post-high school education at an institution of their choice. The award is open to any player in grades 10th -12th who has completed a minimum of one full season of varsity hockey for his/her high school.
SELECTION PROCESS:
Any head coach registered with the MHSHCA may nominate an athlete. Nominations need to be submitted no later than February 15th for eligibility. An MHSHCA sub- committee will process all applications and submit to the MHSHCA executive board its recommendation. As determined by the sub-committee, this award will not necessarily be made if there are no qualified nominees.

If you have a player that meets ALL the criteria, please provide the following information to the email address listed below NO LATER THAN FEBRUARY 15th. (1) Coach's name; (2) Coach's phone number; (3) School; (4) Nominee's name; (5) Present grade; (6) Nominee's address, including city and zip; (7) Nominee's phone number; (8) Nominee's parent(s) first and last names; (9) Nominee's years of varsity hockey participation at your school; (10) A paragraph detailing why you feel he/she should be considered for this award.
