Hockey Scholarships
2012 SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM GENERAL INFORMATION
Henrik Zetterberg, in association with Hockey Weekly and Watson Sports Associates,
will once again sponsor the Henrik Zetterberg Michigan High School Hockey
Scholarships to be awarded in March 2012 to one boy and one girl who play High
School Hockey.
Zetterberg is funding the scholarships and is the presenting sponsor of the Hockey
Weekly and Henrik Zetterberg High School Hockey All-State
Banquet, established by Hockey Weekly and Little Bill’s
Trophies eight years ago.
Zetterberg has a sincere desire to be involved in the area of
educational athletics to improve the lives of hockey players
who choose to play the game for their High School teams.
Hockey Weekly has been involved with High School Hockey
since 1974 and Watson Sports Associates, through owner Graham Watson,
since 2003.
The Henrik Zetterberg Michigan High School Hockey Scholarships are
awarded each spring to two student
athletes – one boy and one girl – from the High Schools participating in
the Michigan High School Athletic Association (boys) or the Michigan Metro
Girls High School Hockey League. The total awards in spring 2012 will be $3,000
– $1,500 each for a boy and girl to be applied to college tuition for the 2012-2013 school year.
APPLICATION CRITERIA
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Must be a current High School Hockey player who is a class senior in good standing.
• Must have received, or will receive, a high school diploma by June 2012.
• Must have a current minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale through seven semesters.
• Must have been accepted to and/or plan to enroll in a college or university for the
2012-2013 academic year.
• Must have participated in community/volunteer service in their junior or senior years.
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
Requirements include:
• Completed application form (see attached form Parts I, II and III).
• Two letters of recommendation stating why the applicant should be selected for this
scholarship. One letter should be from a current or former hockey coach and one from either
a teacher or a guidance counselor. No recommendations will be accepted from relatives or
from Officers or Directors of the Henrik Zetterberg Michigan High School Hockey Scholarships
program. Letters of recommendation must be included with completed application package.
• A one-to-two paragraph response to each of the short answer questions.
• A copy of the applicant’s High School transcript and standardized test scores (SAT/ACT).
Completed application package must be postmarked on or before Feb. 20, 2012.

NOTIFICATION
Final selections will be made by the Henrik Zetterberg Michigan High School Hockey Scholarships
program and announced in March. Recipients will be publicly announced at the Hockey Weekly and Henrik
Zetterberg High School All-State Banquet in March 2012. All selections are final. All applications and attachments
become the property of the Henrik Zetterberg Michigan High School Hockey Scholarships program.
