As you know, the 2015 MHSHCA Coaches Clinic will be held on Friday, July 31st and Saturday, August 1st in Chelsea at the Arctic Coliseum.
This year, USA Hockey and the United States Olympic Committee’s held a Joint Athlete Development Symposium, in May in Colorado Springs. Michigan High School Hockey was honored to attend this invite-only symposium event for 60 coaches, focused on the development of the elite teenage hockey athlete. Presenters included experts from the USOC's sports performance staff, the NCAA, the NHL, USA Hockey and other elite-level developmental programs from the U.S. and international sporting community. This was an outstanding symposium that could help every coach!
Our plan is to have this year’s presenters at our clinic be a continuation of the focus of this symposium. As High School coaches we need to continue to push High School as a High Performance environment.
We are very fortunate to have this year’s Key Note speaker be Kalle Valiaho, Finnish 16U National Coach. Kalle will be presenting on player development at the 18u & 16u age levels with a focus on individual player development in a team setting. I would like to thank Jack Witt and USA hockey for helping us bring Kallie in for our clinic. In addition to Kalle speaking he will also be an on ice instructor at this year’s Excellence Program that is held at the same time. This will be a great experience for the players in the camp.
Also confirmed to present will be Don Granato from the NTDP. As you know Don is working with the top 16 & 17 year olds in our country. He will be presenting a Player Development Overview
This year’s Coaching Clinic is poised to be our best clinic yet. In addition to all of the other items that you get for attending (see the attached flyer) attendees will receive the files and video presentations from the symposium at the USOC on a thumb drive for use with your own team/player development.
Please register for this year’s clinic as soon as possible. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.
